Lower Extremity Pain Treatment in Melbourne

Assessment & Non-Surgical Care

Pain in the hip, thigh, knee, or ankle can be just as disabling as back pain — and just as frequently mismanaged. Whether it comes on suddenly after an injury or builds gradually over months of activity, lower limb pain affects your ability to walk, work, exercise, and live comfortably.

At Cornerstone Medical Group, we assess and treat the full spectrum of lower extremity conditions using an evidence-based, non-surgical approach. We look beyond the site of pain to identify the underlying mechanical, structural, and movement factors driving your symptoms — and build a treatment plan designed to resolve them.

Overview

Why Lower Extremity Pain Is Often More Complex Than It Appears

The hip, thigh, knee, and ankle do not function in isolation. They are part of a continuous kinetic chain — a series of interconnected joints, muscles, and structures that work together to support movement and absorb load. When one part of that chain is dysfunctional, the effects are felt above and below.

Knee pain is frequently driven by hip weakness. Ankle instability alters gait mechanics and increases stress on the knee. Hip dysfunction can refer pain into the thigh or groin in patterns that mimic other conditions entirely. This is why accurate assessment — looking at the whole lower limb, not just the painful joint — is essential to effective treatment.

At Cornerstone, every lower extremity assessment includes a full biomechanical evaluation of the hip, pelvis, knee, and ankle complex — not just the area that hurts.
